Wherever we went in Japan, there were schools and schoolyards.
Are swings to be found everywhere?
I’m not sure what game is about to happen here. Maybe dodgeball?
From the train one day I saw, for a few seconds, a schoolyard game of baseball. The inning was just over and the teams were trading places.
Baseball was introduced to Japan in 1873. “Baseball” is 野球 (やきゅう; yakyū)… it combines the characters for field and ball.
And there was jump-rope.
In Japanese, jump-rope is “nawatobi”.

I love the lines and angles present in these distant views.
