Fern Unfolding

We’d gone up to explore the ridge in back of where we’re staying…

There are some old quarries up there, one was like a great outdoor room.

Against the back wall was a huge rock.

A perfect place to place a grandson.

Down he came, and off we went.

Here the ground is damp, and ferns thrive.

One fern, framed by cracks in the rock, stood out.

I love this species of fern. I’ve never seen a fern that unfolds quite this way.

I like to think that these cracks in the rock look like a stylized Mount Fuji.
