Quansoo Dog

As always happens eventually, the Opening at Quansoo has closed.

It was probably during a recent period of strong south and southwest winds.

The breach has filled. High tides and big waves will wash over still, but the pond and ocean are no longer connected.

To the north, at the head of the pond, my friend DB says she’s noticed the change, and that the pond level is starting to rise again.

There’s no longer an eastern barrier when we want to walk on the shore now.

There are still pronounced “steeps” where the channel’s edge once was.

A nice thing for a small dog to climb.

Perhaps to pose…

We asked friends to caption the photo below.

Some of the answers:

“It’s a bad ear day”
“Do you smell that?”
“Can I open ’em yet?”
99,100!, Here I come!”
Our hat’s particularly off to GB, our neighbor across the way, who noticed a resemblance to a movie icon from the days of yore, one whose blonde and windblown images are way more famous than Coquina the Doglet will ever be.
