Flowers from 9 Degrees

Nine degrees.

That’s not far north of the equator.

While it’s not nine degrees on Martha’s Vineyard right now, it did get close to that the other night, out on the outwash plains where the cold air drains to and settles on a still and cloudless night.

It was cold enough to make me go look for some photos with heat and color.

Few flowers are as spectacular as ornamental ginger.

Though quiet and unsplashy, the flower of coffee could be Costa Rica’s national flower. It’s very fragrant.

Huge and well-engineered is the banana’s flower.

Thunbergia grandiflora.

Hip hip hooray for hibiscus!

An orchid floret, full of fine detail.

Apologies, I can’t remember the name of these.
