July views of the Nonamessett House

Each month of the year, the Nonamessett house has a different feel, a different personality.

To see this house from the ferry you have to be ready. There’s only a minute or so when the place is not obscured by the ridge in front of it. Look for the chimney.



The house has a very big neighbor to the West. Adding the neighbor house completely changes the feel of this picture, doesn’t it?


The other neighbor, the disintegrating metal shack, makes the picture speak entirely differently.


The Nonamessett house is an ancient and evocative structure.


Sometimes it’s only after the moment of exposure that you notice things in an image.


In the last photo, it’s the proverb: “One good tern deserves another…”
